Chief Electoral Officer Shri Anupam Rajan has said that ever since the Model Code of Conduct for Lok Sabha Elections-2024 came into effect, constant monitoring is being done by the police and other enforcement agencies. He told that from March 16 to April 22, material worth Rs 244 crore 55 lakh 10 thousand 762 including Rs 19 crore 54 lakh 85 thousand 81 in cash have been seized.

It may be noted that during the Model Code of Conduct in Lok Sabha Elections-2019, material worth Rs 85 crore 12 lakh were seized.

In just 37 days during the Model Code of Conduct period of Lok Sabha Elections-2024, materials worth almost three times more have been seized as compared to the last Lok Sabha elections.

Till April 22, more than 22 lakh 72 thousand 657 liters of liquor valued at Rs 33 crore 77 lakh 34 thousand 911 has also been seized. Similarly, more than 16 thousand 715 kg of drugs worth Rs 22 crore 23 lakh 46 thousand 953 and more than 2 thousand 144 kg of precious metals worth Rs 11 crore 59 lakh 64 thousand 619 have also been seized. Also, other valuable materials worth Rs 157 crore 39 lakh 79 thousand 198 have also been seized.
