Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai’s empathetic intervention brings relief to sickle cell stricken children of Jashpur district

Chief Minister’s directives prompt aid for children

Two children hailing from Jashpur district, who are grappling with the debilitating effects of Sickle Cell Anaemia, have finally breathed a sigh of relief with the empathetic intervention of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai.

Smt. Durgavati Chauhan, a resident of Khuntitoli in Kansabel tehsil of Jashpur district, reached the CM camp in Bagiya with her two children, 5-year-old Ayush Chauhan and 2-year-old Aarushi Chauhan. She apprised the Chief Minister of the ongoing health struggles faced by her children, stressing the constant need for medication and blood transfusions. Financial constraints, however, had posed significant challenges to their treatment, she said.

In a compassionate response to the distressing situation, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai promptly instructed CMHO Dr RS Painkra to ensure the provision of adequate treatment for both children. Acting swiftly on the Chief Minister’s directives, the Chirayu branch of the Health Department is actively engaged in assessing the health conditions of the affected children.

Chirayu Nodal Officer Dr Arvind Ratre explained that sickle cell is a genetic disease present from birth. In compliance with the directives of Chief Minister, all types of assistance are being provided to both affected children. Assistance from a disease specialist doctor will also be provided.

Health department officials stated that sickle cell investigations are underway in the district as part of the Central Government’s ambitious plan to make India free from Sickle Cell Anaemia. Affected patients are being facilitated with primary ration cards, disability certificates, and access to various government schemes. Immediate arrangements for blood transfusions are being made available if required for the children in need.
