Yoga is important to keep body, mind, and soul balanced – Shri Mangubhai Patel

Program organized at Raj Bhavan on International Yoga Day

Governor Shri Mangubhai Patel has said that yoga is very important for the balance of body, mind, and soul. Yoga is simple, and it is for everyone. It can be practiced both individually and collectively. With special efforts of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Yoga has now become a global fest. Shri Patel was addressing a program organized at Raj Bhavan on the occasion of International Yoga Day. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s address was telecast live from Jammu and Kashmir in the program.

Governor Shri Patel said that Yoga is the heritage of our ancestors gifted by our sages and seers. We should make yoga a part of our lives. In this era of a materialistic lifestyle and changing eating habits, we need to pay special attention to our eating habits and conduct along with yoga. He described coarse grains, exercise, adequate water, and adequate sleep as essential for a healthy body. Shri Patel advised to adopt food that is pleasing to the mind till the age of 40 and that is pleasing to the body after the age of 40.

Governor practices various yoga mudras

Governor Shri Patel collectively partook in various activities including yoga asanas, pranayama, and meditation. He performed asanas while sitting, lying on his back, lying on his stomach, and in a standing position. Along with Governor Shri Patel, about 150 persons collectively practiced Cervical Movement, Shoulder Movement, Tadasana, Vrikshasana, Padahastasana, Katichkrasana, Dandasana, Vajrasana, Titli Asana, Ustrasana, Shashankasana, Uttanmandukasana, Vakrasana, Makarasana, Setubandha Asana, Uttanapadasana, Pawanmuktasana and Shavasana. He also practiced Pranayam like Kapalabhati, Nadishodhan, Anulom-Vilom, Bhramari, etc.. The mass yoga program concluded with clapping and laughing therapy. Yoga guru Shri Rajeev Jaintrilok gave lessons on various yogic postures.

At the outset, Governor Shri Mangubhai Patel was welcomed and presented with a bouquet by the students of the Yoga Faculty of Barkatullah University. Principal Secretary to the Governor Shri Mukesh Chand Gupta, Additional Secretary Shri Umakant Bhargava, Raj Bhavan officials, employees, their family members, and children participated in the program at Raj Bhavan.
