Sushma All India FIDE Rating Chess Championship 2024, organized by Chandigarh Chess Academy, under the aegis of Chandigarh Chess Championship and All India Chess Federation, witnessed an exhilarating grand opening ceremony. Held from 28th June 2024 to 2nd July 2024, the event commenced at Dev Samaj College of Education, Sector 36 B, Chandigarh.
The championship’s grand opening ceremony was inaugurated by the esteemed Chief Guest, Sh. Hari Kallikkat, IAS, Secretary Sports, Chandigarh Administration (UT). In his opening address, Sh. Kallikkat highlighted the significance of such events in promoting chess at the grassroots level and fostering international camaraderie.
Mr. Prateek Mittal, Sushma Group, expressed, “We are delighted to support the All India FIDE Rating Chess Championship 2024. We extend our heartiest congratulations to the Day 1 score leaders. The first day of the championship witnessed some outstanding performances. The top three scorers of Day 1 are Krish Jaidka from Delhi, Deepanshu Garg from Haryana, Pranjal Malhotra from Pune & Sartha Singal Pune. This international-level championship has drawn 470 participants, including players from other countries, competing across various age groups. Each player is set to play nine matches over the next five days, featuring two matches daily. The championship showcases a diverse array of chess talent, offering all winners with exciting 66 cash prizes
