In a tragic incident at Kikirda village under Birra police station in Janjgir-Champa, five individuals lost their lives due to suffocation inside a well. Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai has announced financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh each to the families of the deceased.

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai shared this information on his official X handle stating “It has been reported that five people tragically lost their lives due to poisonous gas inside a well in Kikirda village of Janjgir. I announce financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh each to the families of the deceased in this incident.”

Expressing condolences, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai stated that the government is fully committed to providing all possible assistance to the families of the victims. He offered prayers for the peace of the departed souls.

Meanwhile, incident occurred at an abandoned old well in Kikirda village, Birra area of Janjgir district. Villagers had covered the well with an old wooden roof. Recently, due to heavy rain and strong winds in the region, the wooden roof collapsed into the well. Initially, a villager entered the well to retrieve the fallen roof but did not return. Later, four more individuals entered the well one by one but tragically could not be rescued. It is suspected that due to the well being closed for a prolonged period, poisonous gas accumulated inside, leading to the fatalities.
