Lucknow, May 1: The film “Razakar: Silent Genocide of Hyderabad”, based on the massacre by the Razakars during India’s early days of independence in Hyderabad State on the orders of the Nizam, has been well-received by audiences across India since its release on April 26.
Lead actors Raj Arjun and actress Anusuya Tripathi, along with producer Gudur Narayan Reddy have attended a special screening of the movie in Lucknow and interacted with the media. Critics and audiences are appreciative of the film.
Raj Arjun, who played a significant role in the film, emphasized on the importance of production of the movie, stating that Razakar is a must-watch for every Indian. It sheds light on the tragedies being faced by the locals who have suffered under the Nizam’s regime.
“The film is a great tribute to the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel,” the actor asserted. Born in Gujarat, Sardar Patel was the first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister of India. He led several major movements during British rule and after Independence, played a crucial role in integrating many princely states into India. His invaluable contribution to Hyderabad’s integration into India is something no Indian can forget.
Producer Gudur Narayana Reddy stated that the film narrates an essential chapter of the history, overlooked for the past 75 years. Razakar has now been released in Hindi along with the South Indian languages, every individual in the country can learn about the dark chapter of history of Hyderabad.
“Through special screenings in Lucknow, we aim to highlight the atrocities being committed by the Razakars which could be compared to those of Hitler,” he explained.
The trailer depicts atrocities against women, children, and the elderly alike. How Nizam’s order to ban chant of the Omkara and saffron color has boiled the blood of the Hindus of Hyderabad State have been portrayed vividly in the movie.
As the trailer shows, Sardar Patel’s message warning Nizam that Hyderabad must integrate with India or else face the consequences, would go down well with the audience.
It also shows that amidst the brutality and genocide, the brave warriors of freedom fought with a firm resolve. The Indian Army and freedom fighters unite to initiate a bloody battle against the Razakars.
Sardar Patel’s dialogue,”ना संधि ना समर्पण अब बस युद्ध होगा”(No treaty, no surrender, only war now) instills a sense of fervor among the audience.
