Anganwadi/Mini Anganwadi workers and Sahayikas will get the benefit of insurance
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has decided to provide the benefit of insurance cover of Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) under social security to Anganwadi/Mini Anganwadi workers and Sahayikas under Saksham Anganwadi Evam Poshan 2.0’. The Council of Ministers also granted its approval to this last Tuesday.
A total of one lakh 30 thousand 894 Anganwadi/Mini Anganwadi workers and Sahayikas will benefit under the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana. About of one lakh 70 thousand 439 Anganwadi/Mini Anganwadi workers and Sahayikas will get benefits under the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana. Both the insurance schemes will be implemented by the respective bank branch into the bank account to which the honorarium of Anganwadi/Mini worker and Sahayikas is deposited. The premium amount of the insurance scheme will be deducted with their consent, 60 percent of which will be reimbursed by the Government of India and 40 percent by the State Government. There is a potential expenditure of Rs 6.05 crore per year on the scheme, which includes Rs 2.42 crore as state share and Rs 3.63 crore as central share.
Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana
Under the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, by paying an annual premium of Rs 436 per beneficiary to Anganwadi workers, mini Anganwadi workers, and Sahayikas in the age group of 18 to 50 years, a life risk of Rs 2 lakh will be covered in case of death due to any reason.
Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana
Under the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, Anganwadi workers, mini Anganwadi workers, and Sahayikas in the age group of 18 to 59 will be provided an annual premium of Rs 20 per beneficiary, in case of accidental death and permanent total disability, and Rs 1 lakh in case of partial but permanent disability.
