Governor Shri Mangubhai Patel has said that Madhya Pradesh is a state rich in art and culture. Bhopal is a city of art culture and Ganga-Jamuni Tehzeeb. There is a treasure of folk and classical arts here. Events like Kalanjali Mahakala Utsav give an opportunity to reflect the creative and innovative side of society and culture along with art expression.

Governor Shri Patel was addressing the Kalanjali Mahakala Utsav programme organised at Ravindra Bhavan. He honoured the artists of Bhopal city from the stage in the programme. Renowned Bharatnatyam Guru Padmashree Shri Manu Master and Dhrupad singer Padmashree Shri Unmukt Gundecha were present on this occasion.

Governor Shri Mangubhai Patel said that arts reveal the exceptional qualities inherent within us. They awaken the sentiments of love and duty towards the living world, nature and motherland. They give spiritual bliss to all of us. He said that in the materialistic and digital world, fine arts like classical dance, music, painting act as oxygen for the soft emotions of the mind.

Governor Shri Mangubhai Patel said that along with economic, political and strategic development, cultural prosperity is also very important for the progress of any nation. Through the introduction, performance and promotion of the importance of arts, the present and future generations get acquainted with the rich ancient cultural heritage of the country. He appreciated the objective of Kalanjali Sansthan to introduce young artists to the importance and value of classical arts and its efforts to provide a platform to young talents. Shri Patel said that this art confluence decorated with classical arts and artists should become an example of preservation and conservation of the rich art culture of India. He appealed to the people of Bhopal to give enthusiastic support and encouragement to the artists, art seekers and art thinkers who have come to the festival through their participation.

Governor Shri Mangubhai Patel inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp and offering flowers to the Nataraja statue. He released the publication ‘Vangmay’ based on the activities of the Sansthan. Shri Patel was felicitated by presenting a shawl, shrifal and a memento. The welcome address in the programme was given by Shri Pradeep Krishnan, President of Kalanjali Sansthan. Padmashri Shri Manu Master highlighted the greatness and importance of Guru-Shishya Parampara. Dhrupad singer Shri Unmukt Gundecha appreciated the organisation’s 25 years of efforts. The organisation’s general secretary Anu Johnson proposed vote of thanks.
