POCSO tracking portal serves as a digital and transparent system for children suffering from sexual exploitation

Realizing the need for a dedicated system to monitor the implementation of the Act and facilitate services to POCSO victims under Section 44 of the POCSO Act-2012, the POCSO Tracking Portal was launched on July 17, 2022.

The POCSO Act was enacted in the year 2012 keeping in mind the complex and sensitive issues related to sexual exploitation of children in India. The main objective of this Act is to protect children from crimes like sexual harassment, sexual assault and obscenity.

The tracking portal has been conceptualized in joint collaboration with the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) and the National Commission for Child Protection. This portal is such an initiative of the Commission, where for the first time through technology, monitoring of the rights of children suffering from sexual abuse and the facilities provided to them is being ensured. Presently this portal is working to monitor the services like protection, care, compensation and rehabilitation etc. of the children who are victims of child sexual abuse.

Features of Tracking Portal

This portal is a digital and transparent mechanism for extending services to children. It provides an easy and useful system to the police and DCPA for effective discharge of their duties. It improves the functioning of DCPU, CWC and police. It implements child friendly processes and facilitates exchange of information between the Police Department, Women and Child Development Department and Legal Services Authorities. Its functions are also to monitor the process of rehabilitation in cases of child sexual abuse, to fix accountability of those on duty in cases of child sexual abuse, and to provide assistance to SCPCR for better monitoring of cases. Through this, NALSA/SLSA will be able to view the status of cases pending in the district level DLSA and access information about support persons, interpreters, translators, experts and counselors associated with the victims.
