Over 11.74 lakh farmers in the state receive short-term agricultural loans worth Rs 5250 crore

72 per cent of the target amount distributed

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai instructs to provide the benefits of the scheme to the maximum number of farmers

Raipur, 12 July 2024

The state government is ensuring the distribution of short-term loans to the maximum number of farmers across the state, as per the directives of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai and Co-operative Minister Shri Kedar Kashyap. So far, 11.74 lakh farmers have received short-term agricultural loans worth Rs 5250 crore through 2058 cooperative societies by state cooperative banks. This year, the state government has set a loan distribution target of Rs 7300 crore for farmers, with the total amount distributed so far representing about 72 per cent of the target. Short-term agricultural loans are being provided to farmers based on their demand and area. Loans worth Rs 5000 crore were distributed last year.

It is worth mentioning that the Kisan Credit Card (KCC) scheme was initiated by the state government to fulfill the basic needs of farmers and provide them convenience in farming. One of the main objectives of this scheme is to protect farmers from moneylenders. Currently, lakhs of farmers in the state are benefiting from this scheme. This has not only provided relief to farmers for their basic needs but has also led to a continuous increase in crop production.
