Madhya Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board is running Shramodaya Residential Schools in 4 cities including Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior and Jabalpur with the aim of providing quality education to the children of construction workers. These schools are being run by the School Education Department from the year 2022.
There is a system of giving admission to the children of workers eligible to study in these schools from class 6th to 12th through entrance examination. The burden of education, accommodation, study material, uniform etc. for the children taking admission is being borne by the state government. These schools affiliated to the CBSE Board New Delhi, have the capacity to admit 4 thousand 480 students.
School of Excellence
District level schools of excellence have been started at the district headquarters to provide high quality education to talented students,. At present, schools of excellence are being run by the School Education Department at 41 district headquarters. These schools are running from classes 9 to 12. There is a system of giving admission in these schools through entrance examination in class 9th.
To strengthen infrastructure and fulfill other needs of these schools, a grant is being given by the School Education Department on the basis of the number of students. There is a system for posting selected teachers and principals in these schools. In the year 2022-23, the result of class 10th of the district level schools of excellence has been 93.88 and the result of class 12th has been 83.93.
