Nomination papers of 16 candidates rejected

Chief Electoral Officer Shri Anupam Rajan said that according to the election schedule of Lok Sabha Elections-2024, the nomination papers were scrutinized for the second phase. During scrutiny, nomination papers of 93 candidates were found valid while nomination papers of a total of 16 candidates were rejected.

Chief Electoral Officer Shri Anupam Rajan has said that after scrutiny of nomination papers on April 5, nomination papers of 8 candidates in Lok Sabha Parliamentary Constituency No. 6 Tikamgarh (SC) were found valid, 16 candidates in Lok Sabha Parliamentary Constituency No. 7 Damoh, 14 candidates in Lok Sabha Parliamentary Constituency No. 8. In Khajuraho, 20 candidates in Lok Sabha Parliamentary Constituency No. 9 Satna, 14 candidates in Lok Sabha Parliamentary Constituency No. 10 Rewa, 12 candidates in Lok Sabha Parliamentary Constituency No. 17 Hoshangabad and 9 candidates in Lok Sabha Parliamentary Constituency No. 29 Betul (ST) were found valid. Nomination papers of 2 candidates in Lok Sabha parliamentary constituency Tikamgarh, 2 in Damoh, 5 in Khajuraho, 2 in Satna and 5 in Rewa were rejected after scrutiny. Shri Rajan said that the candidates who have filed the nomination papers will be able to withdraw their names till Monday, April 8. Voting for the second phase will take place on Friday, April 26. Counting of votes for all phases of voting will take place on June 4.
