Seizure of cash, illicit liquor, drugs, precious metals
Chief Electoral Officer Shri Anupam Rajan has said that continuous action is being taken by the police and other enforcement agencies ever since the Model Code of Conduct for Lok Sabha Elections-2024 came into effect. He said that from March 16 to April 2, material worth Rs 63 crore 50 lakh 16 thousand 304 including cash amount of Rs 6 crore 58 lakh 53 thousand 49 have been seized. This includes, 11 lakh 32 thousand 859 liters of liquor valued at Rs 17 crore 95 lakh 55 thousand 629.
Similarly, more than 10 thousand 285 kg of drugs worth Rs 14 crore 34 lakh 35 thousand 955 and more than 199 kg of precious metals worth Rs 3 crore 92 lakh 71 thousand 21 have also been seized. Besides, other materials (readymade garments etc.) worth Rs 20 crore 69 lakh 650 have been seized.
