Make the organ donation process convenient for people: Deputy Chief Minister Shri Shukla

State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization Guidelines reviewed

Deputy Chief Minister Shri Rajendra Shukla conducted a comprehensive review of the guidelines and procedures of the State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization at Mantralaya. During the session, he received detailed updates on the current protocols governing the retrieval, storage, transportation, and allocation processes for organ and tissue transplants across the state. Emphasizing the importance of accessibility, he directed officials to streamline operations for enhanced convenience. Commissioner of Medical Education Shri Tarun Kumar Pithode, along with SOTO members and departmental officers, participated in the productive meeting.

Organ donation is a donation of life

Deputy Chief Minister Shri Shukla emphasized that organ donation is the gift of life itself, describing it as a profound act of service. He highlighted how donated organs can bring renewed hope and happiness to individuals battling serious illnesses, offering them a second lease on life. Stressing the importance of collective action, he underscored that promoting awareness about organ donation is crucial for fostering a healthier and more compassionate society. He urged concerted efforts to inspire voluntary participation in this noble cause, which he believes empowers humanity.

The State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (SOTO) co-ordinates the implementation of schemes under the National Organ and Tissue Transplant Programme, in consultation with the State Government. Creating waiting lists for organ-transplant offers, coordinating organ and tissue retrieval, matching, allocation, transportation, storage and transplantation, brain stem death certification, and coordinating retrieval teams are all performed by SOTO.
