“Madhya Pradesh a Prime Destination for Investment in Agriculture, Food, and Dairy Processing”: Second Session of Seminar

Madhya Pradesh has been recognized as the prime destination in the country for investments in agro-food and dairy processing industries. During the first day of the Regional Industry Conclave-2024 in Ujjain, industrialists and entrepreneurs discussed the vast potential for growth and investment in agriculture, food, and dairy processing in Madhya Pradesh. They also commended the state government’s positive industrial policy in this regard. In the seminar’s second session, prominent figures such as State Agriculture Production Commissioner Shri S.N. Mishra, Principal Secretary Animal Husbandry and Dairy Shri Gulshan Bamra, Principal Secretary Horticulture and Food Processing Shri Sukhbir Singh, Senior Manager PepsiCo Shri Sandeep Samdar, Vice President ITC Shri Sachin Sharma, CEO of Tropilite Foods Shri Puneet Dawar, and Deputy Managing Director Mother Dairy Shri JT Chari participated.

In the seminar, Agriculture Production Commissioner Shri Mishra delivered the welcome address, assuring investors of a hassle-free experience and comprehensive support. He highlighted Madhya Pradesh’s significant contributions to agriculture, ranking third in milk production and second in the production of tomato, soybean, wheat, maize, onion, garlic, and green chili. Furthermore, he emphasized that Madhya Pradesh accounts for 27 percent of the country’s organic farming.

Principal Secretary Shri Bamra highlighted Madhya Pradesh’s leading position in various agricultural and horticultural activities during the industry seminar. He emphasized the state’s industry-friendly policies, which are fostering growth in dairy, food, and agro-processing industries. Horticulture products are cultivated across 25 lakh hectares of land, positioning Madhya Pradesh as the top producer of horticultural products nationwide. Additionally, the state ranks second in the country in the production of flowers, fruits, and aromatic crops. The government has implemented a positive industry policy for food and dairy processing units, offering up to a 40 percent subsidy on plant and machinery and a 15 percent subsidy on food park project costs.

Additional incentives are provided by the government for establishment of micro units of agriculture, food and dairy. Additional 12 percent incentive is being given to Scheduled Castes and Tribes and exporting units.

It was told in the seminar that better infrastructure is ready for setting up agriculture and food processing units in Madhya Pradesh. There is agricultural irrigation facility in 45 lakh hectares in Madhya Pradesh. The state has good warehousing capacity, there is cold storage with a capacity of more than 13 lakh metric tons. 15 food clusters have been formed in Madhya Pradesh. Madhya Pradesh produces 5.5 lakh kilograms of milk every day, which is surplus. There is full potential for 9 to 10 percent growth in milk production.

In the seminar, Vice President and Agri and Dairy Operational ITC Shri Sachin Sharma apprised about the challenges of the current scenario, better investment opportunities in Madhya Pradesh, industry-friendly policy of Madhya Pradesh and allied government machinery. He also discussed about e-platform Climate Change. He told that we are setting-up a food processing park in Madhya Pradesh by investing Rs 1000 crore. There is immense potential for development of agro-based industrial units in Madhya Pradesh. Industrial policy is very helpful for industrialists. Madhya Pradesh is an ideal state for investment.

Deputy Managing Director of Mother Dairy, Shri JT Chari, CEO of Tropilite Foods, Shri Puneet Dawar, Senior Manager of PepsiCo, Shri Sandeep Samdar also talked about the industrial products of their companies and better industrial environment in Madhya Pradesh. They told that they are also setting-up an industrial unit in Vikram Udyog Puri of Ujjain.
