Jandarshan: Farmers appeal for compensation against the paddy crop damage due to hailstorm

Chief Minister directs the Collector to probe the matter and take action accordingly

Raipur, 04 July 2024

Farmers from the villages of Sukhari, Kushabhatha Nageda, and Chatwan approached Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai at ‘Jandarshan’ program with the request of compensation against their paddy crops damaged due to hailstorm. In response, Chief Minister Shri Sai instructed the Collector of Balodabazar to probe the matter and take appropriate action.

The farmers from Sonakhan Tehsil in Balodabazar district informed Chief Minister that in their respective villages, farmers had sown summer paddy crops in 2023, which were ready for harvest when a severe hailstorm in May completely destroyed the crops. They had submitted an application to the Collector for compensation for the hailstorm-damaged crops.

The Patwari had inspected the crops and submitted the case to the Tehsil office. However, the farmers have not yet received any compensation. However, farmers from 33 nearby villages, including Kalmi, Dadarbani, Khar, Deori, and Nagedi, who also suffered hailstorm damage at the same time, have already received the compensation.
