Dr. Yadav Urges Citizens to Halt Water Wastage and promotes Conservation

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav urged the citizens to combat wastage of water and embrace its conservation. Highlighting the declining groundwater levels as a major concern, CM Dr Yadav emphasized to plant trees progressively.Calling for a collective Action to Replenish Resources, State Government has launched Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan in Response to Urgent Needs, Ensuring Sustained Efforts for Water Conservation.

Dr. Yadav was addressing the Shramdaan program organized to make an unusable pond located in Bhanwarsala of Indore city useful, increase its water capacity, and beautify it. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav accompanied by the Urban Administration and Development Minister Shri Kailash Vijayvargiya and Water Resources Minister Shri Tulsiram Silawat and other public representatives and citizens offered shramdaan. MP Shri Shankar Lalwani, Mayor Shri Pushyamitra Bhargava, District Panchayat President Mrs. Reena Malviya, MLA Shri Ramesh Mendola, Shri Mahendra Hardiya, Golu Shukla and Shri Madhu Verma, Shri Gaurav Ranadive, Shri Chintu Verma, MiC member Shri Abhishek Sharma were present in the program. Shri Sawan Sonkar, President of Madhya Pradesh Scheduled Caste Finance Development Corporation, and other public representatives were also specially present.

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav emphasized the significance of the Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan, stating that it will significantly enhance the state’s water resources and mark a substantial stride towards environmental enhancement. Despite the campaign’s conclusion on Ganga Dashami, Dr. Yadav underscored its perpetual importance, highlighting the indispensable role of water in sustaining life. He elaborated on the interconnectedness of life and water, emphasizing that any depletion in water levels jeopardizes existence itself. Stressing the imperative to conserve water, he urged a collective effort to comprehend its invaluable utility and curb wastage.

Water Resources Minister Shri Tulsiram Silavat said that the state government is working with a fresh resolve aiming at the development of the state. Focussing on water conservation and promotion in the state, work is being done simultaneously to renovate and deepen wells, step wells, ponds, and rivers and increase their water capacity in all the urban and rural areas of the state.

Mayor Shri Pushyamitra Bhargava explained in detail about the work being done in Indore city under the Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan. He said that more than 131 wells and step wells in Indore city are being cleaned with public participation. The channels of water inflow into ponds and rivers are being cleaned rapidly. 10 thousand works are also being undertaken for rainwater collection. Hundred recharge shafts are being constructed for water harvesting. Three big ponds are being deepened.

Development work of Bhanwarsala pond will be done under the conservation of water and its sources for Rs 1.5 crore. The total area of ​​the pond is 2.895 hectares. The catchment area of ​​the pond is 86.17 hectares. The depth of the pond averages 3 meters. Desilting of the pond, stone pitching, construction of a pathway, tree plantation, and construction of a garden in the remaining open area will be done.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav administered oath to the citizens to save water under the Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan. He offered Jaldaan from various rivers at the pond. Earlier, he also offered prayers to a Jal Kalash containing water from various rivers.
