The two-day TB-Free India Summit-2019 and India vs TB Cricket Competition was inaugurated by Union Minister of Health Mr. Jagat Prakash Nadda, Uttarakhand Finance Minister Mr. Prakash Pant and MP Mr. Anurag Thakur by lighting the traditional lamp at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, New Delhi on Sunday.
While complimenting the participants involved in the India vs TB Cricket match and all those associated with this campaign, Mr. Pant said that the sensitivity with which MP Anurag Thakur has taken initiative of ‘TB Harega Desh Jeetega’ campaign, the Uttarakhand government is also taking it forward, extending full support to the campaign.
Mr. Pant said that while the Government of India wants elimination of tuberculosis in the country by year 2025, the Uttarakhand government has resolved to make the state free from tuberculosis by year 2024. He said that the population of the state of Uttarakhand is about 1 crore and 22131 persons were diagnosed with tuberculosis in year 2018, out of which 539 people are suffering from MDR (Mutli Drug Resistant TB), who are being carefully treated under the supervision of Uttarakhand government and Uttarakhand government is providing better facilities under multi-target therapy. He said that in order to implement this important campaign in a significant manner, awareness campaign is being carried out in the state and the state government will be successful in elimination of tuberculosis from the state by year 2024.
In the said programme, mementos were given to the members of Uttrakhand CM XI Team by Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Mr. Jayant Sinha.
In India vs TB cricket match, Uttarakhand CM XI registered victory in exhibition match between Uttarakhand CM XI and Delhi CM XI cricket teams. Sitarganj MLA Mr. Saurabh Bahuguna was awarded Man of the Match.
It is worth mentioning that Uttrakhand CM XI team was led by Uttarakhand Finance Minister Mr. Prakash Pant.
