Governor gives instructions in review meeting at Raj Bhavan

Governor Shri Mangubhai Patel emphasized the need for swift distribution of mark sheets and degrees following the declaration of examination results. He instructed that all degrees be distributed within the next month, ensuring that no delays occur. Additionally, he directed that mark sheets and degrees be uploaded to DigiLocker immediately to prevent any issues for students during future admissions or placements. Governor Patel urged Vice Chancellors to take on a guardian role for the students, making sincere efforts to address and resolve their problems efficiently.

Governor Shri Patel gave these instructions in the meeting of Vice Chancellors of all the universities of the state. Higher Education Minister Shri Inder Singh Parmar, Additional Chief Secretary Higher Education Shri KC Gupta and Principal Secretary to the Governor Shri Mukesh Chand Gupta were present in the meeting held in Sandipani Auditorium of Raj Bhavan.

Convocations should be held within the time limit

Governor Shri Mangubhai Patel emphasized that convocations should not be delayed and must be held annually within the specified timeframe. He insisted that any previously pending ceremonies should also be conducted along with this year’s convocation. Additionally, he directed all universities to adhere to the academic calendar for organizing admissions and examinations, ensuring that exam results are released on time.

Resolve students’ complaints on priority

Governor Shri Mangubhai Patel stressed that student complaints should be prioritized and resolved promptly by university management, taking necessary actions as needed. He emphasized maintaining the integrity of answer sheet evaluations and results. The Vice Chancellor should ensure effective management of both academic and administrative systems, incorporating modern technology for administrative efficiency. Additionally, an effective e-library system should be established and students should be encouraged to utilize it.

Governor Patel also highlighted the importance of consistently striving for the highest academic standards. Universities undergoing NAAC assessment soon should ensure robust preparations. All universities should continuously aim for excellence in academic quality. Institutions that have not yet applied for NAAC grading must complete the required processes and preparations within the stipulated timeframe and proceed with further actions.

Discussion on Samras Hostels in Universities

Governor Shri Mangubhai Patel discussed the construction of Samras (Harmonious) Hostels in universities for students. He said that Harmonious Hostels should be built for students of all classes. When students from all classes and communities live together in these hostels, it fosters a sense of sociality, sensitivity, harmony, equality, and brotherhood among them.

Books based on “Indian Knowledge Tradition” should be made available: Minister Shri Parmar

In the meeting, Higher Education Minister Shri Inder Singh Parmar said that books based on subject “Indian Knowledge Tradition” should be available in the libraries of all universities. All Vice Chancellors should ensure the availability of books within the time limit. He said that in this regard, the university should take action by coordinating with the Higher Education Department for books of reputed authors and necessary study material.

Take action to start aviation and agriculture courses

At the meeting, Additional Chief Secretary of the Higher Education Department, Shri KC Gupta, said that universities are introducing aviation-related degree and diploma courses as per government directives. Metropolitan universities located near airstrips and aviation facilities have been instructed to make all necessary preparations to launch these courses soon. Universities in these regions are also encouraged to coordinate their efforts in this regard.

Shri Gupta also urged Vice Chancellors to actively initiate agriculture-related courses. Additionally, he emphasized the need for timely and effective resolution of student complaints registered through the CM Helpline.

At the outset, Governor Shri Patel was welcomed by Additional Chief Secretary Higher Education Department Shri KC Gupta by presenting a flower bouquet. Higher Education Minister Shri Inder Singh Parmar was welcomed by the Principal Secretary to the Governor Shri Mukesh Chand Gupta. Additional Secretary to the Governor Shri Umakant Bhargava, Law Officer Shri Umesh Srivastava along with vice chancellors, registrars and concerned officers of universities were present in the meeting.
