Gujarat: Rs. 54.16 crore for modern hospital, ceremonial start on March 4 Banaskantha, February 21 (IANS) Gujarat BJP MLA Shankar Chaudhary announced the upcoming construction of a modern government hospital, slated to be the second largest in the state after Ahmedabad’s Asarwa Civil Hospital. The groundbreaking ceremony, or Bhumi Pujan, for the hospital, is scheduled for March 4 in Tharad in the Banaskantha region of Gujarat. This new healthcare facility will have a wide range of medical services, including advanced cancer, kidney, and heart disease treatment, marking a major upgrade in healthcare access for the local community. The project’s funding includes a Rs. 10 crore contribution from Member of Parliament Parbatbhai Patel, with an additional Rs—40 crore secured by Shankarbhai Chaudhary, who also serves as the current Speaker of the Gujarat Assembly. The combined efforts of local and state representatives have thus culminated in a Rs. 54.16 crore investment. Gujarat has a healthcare landscape with approximately 2,528 allopathic hospitals, of which 503 fall under the state health department’s purview. Among these, the Ahmedabad Civil Hospital is Gujarat’s leading public healthcare facility. It offers specialized diagnostic, therapeutic, and rehabilitative care to patients.
