Training in driving to 730 women from 8 districts
A scheme of giving free driving license is being run by the Transport Department to provide women of the state with employment opportunities and boost their self-confidence. So far, free driving licenses have been issued to more than 6 lakh 53 thousand women through the scheme.
More than 7 lakh 52 thousand 600 learning licenses have been issued by the department. Women can travel safely in public service buses. For this, helpline number 1091 has been marked on the buses.
Driver-conductor training for women
The Transport Department is providing free driver-conductor training to provide employment to women, About 730 women and girls have been given training in driving light motor vehicles in 8 districts of the state including Indore, Sagar, Gwalior, Jabalpur, Jhabua, Khandwa, Ujjain and Dhar. Post training, they have been issued driving licenses.
Panic button facility in buses
With the help of the Nirbhaya Fund, the Transport Department in the state is installing a location-tracking device system along with a panic button as per the norms for the safe transportation of women and girls in public vehicles. Till now about 46 thousand 500 devices have been installed in vehicles. This equipment is useful from the point of view of women’s safety. Command and Control Center has been opened in the state capital Bhopal. Licenses are being issued by the Transport Department through faceless services. No woman is required to come to the transport office to obtain a learner’s license through e-KYC.
