DoubleTree by Hilton Gurugram Baani Square is delighted to celebrate National Pina Colada Day on July 10 by offering winning variations of Hilton’s iconic cocktail, Pina Colada. 2024 marks the completion of 70 years of the Pina Colada, and to celebrate this occasion, the hotel is showcasing a celebratory menu that will run until September, giving patrons an opportunity to relish some of the finest preparations of the drink steeped in Hilton’s history.
The original recipe for Pina Colada was invented in 1954 by Ramon’ Monchito’ Marrero in Caribe Hilton in San Juan, Puerto Rico. There, he experimented with a new recipe that blended rum, coconut cream, and pineapple juice in an icy drink. After three months of perfecting the recipe, Marrero felt that the drink finally captured the flavours of Puerto Rico and named it ‘Pina Colada’.
“Guests visiting DoubleTree by Hilton Gurugram Baani Square will not only taste variations of Pina Colada but also get to know about the history of the drink. One can enjoy the drinks as both individual and pitcher serves.” said Jai Chugh, General Manager, DoubleTree by Hilton Gurugram Baani Square.
Besides the Pina Colada (created by Ramon ‘Monchito’ Marrero), some of the variations of the drink that will be available throughout the run of the promotion include creations by the winners of the Hilton’s recent global contest that saw various food and drinks teams across the world unite with 7 hopeful bartenders in a partnership with Bacardi at Caribe Hilton – the birthplace of the Pina Colada. Visitors can relish a number of variations including non-alcohol like Zero Colada, whereas alcoholic drinks like Pina Natura, Vamos and the original Pina Colada. These creative interpretations offer a unique opportunity to savour the classic Pina Colada in new and exciting ways.
