Governor Shri Patel said this on Sunday at the dedication of the newly constructed District and Sessions Court building in Gwalior. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, Union Civil Aviation and Steel Minister Shri Jyotiraditya Scindia, Supreme Court Justice Shri J. K. Maheshwari and Justice Shri S. C. Sharma, Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh High Court Shri Ravi Malimath and Administrative Justice of High Court Division Bench Gwalior Shri Rohit Arya were present in the programme.
During the inauguration of Gwalior’s new District and Sessions Court building, Governor Shri Patel emphasized the significance of providing improved judicial services. The construction, costing Rs 115 crore 41 lakh, aims to enhance the facilities for legal proceedings. Governor Shri Patel lauded the esteemed reputation of India’s judiciary globally, highlighting its numerous contributions to social progress through innovative initiatives.
Governor Shri Patel highlighted the strides made under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to enhance access to justice for all citizens. Initiatives have been launched to improve facilities for prisoners, ensuring their well-being while incarcerated. He emphasized the importance of integrating education for incarcerated children aged 12 to 14, involved in minor offenses, to reintegrate them into society. The newly constructed District and Sessions Court building in Gwalior is poised to significantly contribute to dispensing justice to those in needs.
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav underscores the significance of judiciary, executive, and legislature as the three pillars of democracy. The completion of the modern District and Sessions Court building in Gwalior promises improved access to justice and enhanced facilities for visitors. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that today as a historic milestone for Gwalior, marking the bestowment of three significant gifts in a single day. These include the inauguration of the new air terminal, the modern District and Sessions Court building, and the new premises of MITS College, which has also attained the esteemed status of Deemed University. This achievement stands as a matter of pride for all of us.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the most important person coming to the court is the concerned party and we should ensure timely justice. Along with the construction of court buildings in Madhya Pradesh, remarkable work has also been done in resolving court cases.
Union Minister Shri Jyotiraditya Scindia said that Gwalior is moving rapidly towards development in the golden period of the country. Today Gwalior has received three big gifts. The huge airport, new court building and new building of MITS have also been dedicated in Gwalior. Besides, MITS College has also got the status of Deemed University.
Union Minister Shri Scindia said that today Gwalior has got three major achievements in the field of capacity for justice, capacity for governance and intellectual capacity. Shri Scindia said that Gwalior has a 150 year old history of justice. The Darbar Policy was implemented by Madhavrao Scindia II, which had 12 volumes and the system of providing justice in all areas was implemented in the Scindia rule. In 1938, the Gwalior High Court building was also dedicated by Mahadji Scindia of the Scindia family. Union Minister Shri Scindia said that women are progressing in every field today. Women’s participation should also increase in the field of delivery of justice.
Supreme Court Justice Shri JK Maheshwari reflected on the dedication of the modern District and Sessions Court building in Gwalior today, a project that commenced 16 years ago but faced delays due to various reasons. Expressing joy at the completion and dedication of the new building, he emphasized the importance of not only investing in physical infrastructure but also in the philosophy of justice. Stressing the need for collective efforts in upholding the law, Justice Maheshwari highlighted that timely delivery of justice in court proceedings is essential to bolster public trust in the judicial system.
Supreme Court Justice Shri SC Sharma said that remarkable work has been done in resolving the cases pending in the courts in Madhya Pradesh. Along with this, the construction work of court buildings has also been done at a rapid pace in Madhya Pradesh. State-of-the-art technology should be used so that people can get timely justice. Along with this, there should also be computerization of court documents.
Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court, Shri Ravi Malimath, noted the swift disposal of court cases in the state, coupled with the rapid progress in the construction of court buildings. The newly built Gwalior facility is furnished with modern amenities, ensuring seamless proceedings and prompt delivery of justice for all parties involved. Highlighting the significant resolution of court cases in Madhya Pradesh in the year 2023, Justice Malimath reiterated the commitment to the Vision 2047 initiative aimed at minimizing pending cases in the courts.
At the outset, Administrative Justice of Gwalior High Court Shri Rohit Arya said that with the aim of providing judicial services with better facilities to the citizens, a new District and Sessions Court has been constructed in Gwalior in an area of more than 69 thousand 584 square meters at a cost of Rs 115 crore 41 lakh. Vastu, cultural and architectural styles have been preserved in this five-storey building including the ground floor. He also thanked everyone who contributed to the construction of the new building.
Madhya Pradesh Bar Council Chairman Shri Prem Singh Bhadauria and High Court Bar Association President Shri Pawan Pathak also presented their views in the programme.
