Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav apprised himself about with the preparations for the Namami Gange campaign set to commence from June 5 in the state. Dr. Yadav emphasized the importance of involving the common people in the campaign. Furthermore, he engaged with senior officials to discuss state-wide rejuvenation of water sources and conservation initiatives and provided essential directives.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav discussed in detail about the water conservation campaign starting from Environment Day on 5th June, organizing a water conference, a campaign to remove encroachments from water structures and works to make water sources useful. Chief Secretary Smt. Veera Rana and Additional Chief Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, etc. of the concerned departments were present in the meeting.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav directed to ensure that public kiosks for water are operative in cities as well as rural areas. There should not be any problem with drinking water. Sheds should be arranged for shade in cities and villages to protect citizens from the scorching heat. Wherever necessary, people should be provided relief from the scorching heat through green nets and water spray. Local bodies should play an active role.

It was informed in the meeting that on the basis of the GIS survey, necessary survey work has been done in the urban bodies of the state. 48 projects for lake and pond conservation are approved in the state. The conservation works of Talawali Chanda pond in Indore, lake conservation in Khurai and reservoir in Ashok Nagar have been widely appreciated. At other places in the state too, work on conservation of water bodies is being carried out continuously by the urban bodies. Necessary instructions have been sent to all the districts regarding the Namami Gange campaign. Activities will also be conducted through public awareness campaigns.

A campaign promoting the cleanliness of water sources should be conducted, and deepening work should be undertaken wherever necessary.

The Public Health Engineering Department should regularly review the implementation of the AMRUT scheme.

Encroachments on traditional water sources and water structures should be removed at many places in the state.

Work should be done to clean wells and step wells.

Attention should be directed towards maintaining the cleanliness of water sources near Shanighat in Ujjain, small ponds in Bhopal, Lalbagh in Indore, and similar locations.

Cleanliness and beautification of Govardhan Sagar Ujjain should also be ensured.

Information about river development plans should also be given to the general public.

Ensure adequate drinking water arrangements in rural and urban areas, where there is more difficulty, water supply should be done through tankers, etc. A co-ordinate effort should be initiated to address these challenges and setting-up public kiosks for water with public cooperation.

Campaign should also be conducted for the use of underground water.
