Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has asked the concerning authorities to ensure that no loss of life occurs during the rainy season. He asked all collectors to put their subordinate administrative staff on alert. The flood control room should function round-the-clock. The people should also be warned before any incident or accident. He stressed on maintaining coordination to deal with the challenge of excessive rainfall or floods. If assistance of Army is required, the collectors should inform well in time.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav has described as painful the untimely death of three youths due to water logging in the basement area in Old Rajendra Nagar in Delhi yesterday. In light of this incident, instructions have been given to survey the coaching centers operating in the basements. Dr. Yadav reviewed the situation and the possibility of flood in some districts. Besides, the Collectors-Commissioners have been asked to ensure requisite arrangements in case of excessive rainfall.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav directed that the Public Works Department should compile information about bridges and culverts, where accidents have occurred in the past, and the administration should ensure security arrangements on culverts and bridges. People must not be allowed to cross over the bridges in case of overflowing water. If water is released from dams, the affected districts must be alerted. Team of rescue swimmers should also be ready. There should be coordination at the local level and mutual information must be shared between districts and tehsils. The challenges caused by excessive rainfall and floods. Dr. Yadav stressed on continuous monitoring. Officers and employees at control rooms duty should remain alert 24×7. As per need, the services of scout-guide and service organizations in case of excessive rainfall must be sought.

Essential services should not be disrupted

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that one should take care of cleanliness in drinking water supply during rainy days. The people should continue to get essential items without hindrance. Essential services should be ensured. Cattle also die due to problems arising during the rainy season. Disposal of dead bodies of cattle heads should be timely done.

Chief Minister said that citizens should not be allowed to travel through bridges or culverts where water flow is strong. The swimming team necessary for their survival should also be available at such a place. Rural areas should remain in contact with the district and tehsil. The possibility of an accident or excessive water logging should be avoided.

Assistance from Mukhya Mantri Swechhanudan for Katni family

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that recently, due to excessive rainfall in Jabalpur, Mandla, and Katni districts saw untimely deaths. It should be ensured that such accidents are not repeated. Necessary arrangements for rescue teams should be made on rivers and ponds where people go for picnics. He also mourned the loss four lives. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav approved Rs 16 lakh from the Mukhya Mantri Swechhanudan. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that such accidents must not be repeated. Open borewells should also be closed as it could lead to serious accidents. Citizens themselves should be alert and administrative staff should also remain active and cautious.

Ensure safety of devotees

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that in the month of Sawan, devotees visit in a large number. Security is a must on the routes of citizens visiting religious places during festivals and also in those religious places that are near water sources or rivers. Places where the water level may rise should be constantly monitored for safety reasons. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav gave instructions after receiving information from Commissioner Ujjain, Collector Shajapur, Narmadapuram, Jabalpur, and Katni regarding the rainfall situation and the possibility of flood.

Inspect coaching institutes

Principal Secretary Urban Development Shri Neeraj Mandloi said that in compliance with the instructions of Chief Minister Dr. Yadav, instructions have been given to ensure water drainage arrangements and safe power supply in case of water logging in the basement coaching centers in the state.

Additional Chief Secretary Dr. Rajesh Rajoura said that 16 Municipal Commissioners are also connected to the video conference. They have been directed to inspect the coaching institutes, Dharamshalas, and institutions running in basements. Apart from this, instructions have been given to take necessary precautions in the low-lying areas of various cities and towns and to be aware of the problems arising during the rainy season due to electric current in kutcha houses.

Principal Secretary Revenue Shri Nikunj Kumar Srivastava gave the presentation. He said that the state has received 18.5 inches of rainfall from June 1 to July 29. Districts with high rainfall include Rajgarh, Neemuch, Bhopal, Seoni, Gwalior, Bhind, Sheopur, Chhindwara, Mandla, Raisen, and Sehore. With excessive rainfall, relief camps are being operated only in the Katni district of the state.

The water is rising in Bargi reservoir. The districts have been alerted. Water in many dams is between 50 to 75 percent. District Collectors have been instructed to timely alert the residents living in lower settlements and shift them to other places as per requirement. It has been asked to continuously monitor the water level of flood-prone rivers. All departments have been instructed to update the information on the designated portal and make proper arrangements for advance notice of floods. Maintenance of essential services and arrangement of rescue teams is also being arranged.

A Disaster Warning Response System has been implemented which will provide information about the level of reservoirs, rivers, and the opening of gates. Arrangements for SMS alerts to SDRF, district administration, and citizens have also been made by the Water Resources Department.

Along with this, the staff of the Revenue and Relief Commissioner is preparing a report on the damage due to rain, the district administration is giving warnings and SMS alerts about heavy rain to the citizens. The staff of SDRF and State Disaster Center are playing their role in informing the district administration and citizens and making them alert.

Chief Secretary Smt. Veera Rana gave detailed instructions to all the districts of the state regarding dealing with the situation of excessive rainfall and floods.
