Citizens will join Kshipra Parikrama, Ganga Dashami on 15th and 16th June in Ujjain

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said that Kshipra Parikrama programmes will be held in Ujjain on 15th and 16th June on Navami and Dashami. The yatra will commence from Ramghat, passing through revered sites like Dutt Akhara, Triveni, Garh Kalika, and Gomti Kund. As part of the ritual, common people will offer Chunari to the sacred Kshipra river. Dr. Yadav stressed the importance of organizing the program with traditional fervor, anticipating a significant turnout. He familiarized himself with the details of the Kshipra Parikrama and Ganga Dashami program during a meeting held at the Mantralaya today.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav obtained information about the nature of the cultural event to be held in Ramghat, Dutt Akhara area on the evening of 16th June. This programme will be organised by Maharaja Vikramaditya Research Institute. On this occasion, a special booklet apprising about the importance of Kshipra River and its cultural splendour will also be released. An audio-video CD focusing on Sadanira will also be launched.

Along with the dignified organisation of Kshipra Parikrama, Ganga Dashami programme, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav also gave instruction to organise cultural programmes, exhibitions and water sports activities on the banks of other major rivers of the state like Narmada, Chambal, Tapti, Sone, Sindh and Banganga etc. Simultaneously, work of cleaning the divine places situated on the banks of rivers and sanitizing the temple premises should be done. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that for the last twenty years, Kshipra Parikrama and Ganga Dashami are being organised in which the enlightened citizens of the society, common citizens and scholars of history and archeology also participate. It is also a festival symbolizing social harmony. Presentation of bhajans and other cultural programmes is its specialty. By expanding this rich tradition in the entire state, the idea of organising events on the ghats of other rivers also should be realized with the participation of citizens.

In the meeting, on conservation and promotion of historical and traditional water structure, Additional Chief Secretary Narmada Valley and Development and Water Resources Department, Additional Chief Secretary Panchayat and Rural Development Department, Principal Secretary Urban Development and Housing Department, Secretary Public Health Engineering Department, Commissioner Ujjain Division along with Trustee Secretary Veer Bharat Trust, other senior officers and social workers of District Ujjain joined online.

Chief Secretary Smt. Veera Rana and other concerned senior officers were present in the meeting. Principal Secretary Culture Shri Sheoshekhar Shukla and Director Maharaja Vikramaditya Shodhpeeth Shri Shri Ram Tiwari gave a presentation on the preparations for Kshipra Parikrama.

Public campaign for water conservation will be conducted

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav emphasized on continuous work on conservation of other major rivers and ponds and water structures of the state including the holy Kshipra near Ujjain and directed to conduct a public campaign for water conservation. It was told in the meeting that satellite mapping of about 212 rivers, water structures and traditional water sources of Madhya Pradesh (which are currently extinct) will be done and survey based documentation with references to ancient folklore, tradition will be prepared by the Council of Science and Technology and Veer Bharat Trust and will be published. Initiatives will be taken towards restoration and conservation of temples, heritage sites and aquatic creatures around rivers in the entire state. The traditional Kshipra Parikrama on Ganga Dashami will now be organised on a large scale. In the coming year, from Varsha Pratipada which is the day of creation of the universe and is also Ujjain Gaurav Diwas and also the first day of Vikram Samvat, from this date a public campaign of water conservation will be run in the entire Madhya Pradesh including Ujjain.
