Bastar district receives boost in governance and law enforcement with New SDM Offices and Police Stations

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai on Thursday inaugurated three new Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Offices in Jagdalpur, Tokapal, and Lohandiguda, each constructed at a cost of Rs 48 lakh. The inauguration ceremony took place at the new revenue office complex in front of Danteshwari Girls College.

With the establishment of these SDM offices, residents of Jagdalpur (approximately 3 lakh), Tokapal (around 2.65 lakh), and Lohandiguda (about 1 lakh) will now have improved facilities for the redressal of revenue cases. Previously, the Jagdalpur SDM office was operating in the joint office, while the Tokapal and Lohandiguda SDM offices operated from the tehsil office premises. The new buildings are expected to streamline administrative processes and enhance public service delivery.

In addition to the SDM offices, Chief Minister Shri Sai also inaugurated two newly constructed police stations in Lohandiguda and Burgum, each at a cost of Rs 250 lakh. These new police facilities are expected to strengthen law enforcement capabilities in the region.

Chief Minister also inaugurated renovation works at the Jagdalpur Tehsil office, completed at a cost of Rs 66.49 lakh. The revamped Tehsil office now includes Jagdalpur and Nazul courts, along with the court of the Naib Tehsildar for Frezarpur, Kurundi, and Markel. This relocation from the old building to the new facility addresses space constraints and aims to improve public convenience. The previous tehsil building is being repurposed as a ‘heritage ground’ for accommodating deities and their attendants during the renowned Bastar Dussehra festival.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including Forest Minister Shri Kedar Kashyap, Women and Child Development Minister Smt. Laxmi Rajwade, Bastar MP Shri Mahesh Kashyap, MLAs Shri Kiran Deo and Shri Vinayak Goyal, Mayor Smt. Safira Sahu, Commissioner Shri Doman Singh, IG Shri Sundarraj P., Collector Shri Vijay Dayaram K., and Superintendent of Police Shri Shalabh Sinha.
