State-level bankers’ committee meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Dr. Yadav

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav emphasized the need for banks to adopt a cooperative approach to expand their activities and support self-help groups, cottage-village industries, and medium industries across the state. He highlighted the importance of promoting employment-oriented initiatives in sectors such as agriculture, health, education, and tourism uniformly across all districts. Dr. Yadav urged banks to demonstrate sensitivity and efficiency in both business-related and public welfare endeavors, aiming to enhance economic self-reliance among the common populace. He delivered these remarks during the 189th and 190th meetings of the State Level Bankers’ Committee held at Mantralaya.

While congratulating Chief Minister Dr. Yadav for the state government’s budget beneficial to all and the massive ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign, the State Bankers’ Committee assured active cooperation of all the banks in the campaign. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav also released the book Annual Credit Plan Madhya Pradesh 2024-25.

Zonal-level activities should be conducted to promote industry and trade.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav emphasized the state government’s commitment to promoting industry and trade across all zones to ensure balanced development statewide. He urged bankers to proactively foster economic activities in various sectors towards this goal. Highlighting the government’s priority on the development and welfare of the underprivileged, Dr. Yadav underscored the need to liberate tribal communities from money lenders by integrating them with banking services. He also directed the formulation of action plans to provide sustainable livelihoods for nomadic and semi-nomadic tribes through agriculture or business ventures. Additionally, Dr. Yadav instructed the opening of banking branches at 14 locations where services are yet to be established, stressing on timely coordination and arrangements for their setup.

Rural self-employment training institutes will also be started in Mauganj, Maihar, Pandhuna, Agar-Malwa and Niwari

In the meeting, information was presented on the business growth of banks in the year 2023-24, the annual credit plan, progress of government schemes. Besides, discussions were also held on financial inclusion and non-performing assets. It was informed that rural self-employment training institutes have been established in almost all the districts to provide necessary skill training to the BPL youth of rural areas.

The process of setting up training institutes in the new districts of Mauganj, Maihar and Pandhurna and earlier in Agar-Malwa and Niwari is in progress. Chief Secretary Smt. Veera Rana, Additional Chief Secretary Dr. Rajesh Rajoura, Shri Malay Srivastava, Shri K.C. Gupta, Principal Secretary Cooperative Smt. Deepali Rastogi, Principal Secretary Finance Shri Manish Singh, Director of the Department of Financial Services, Government of India Shri Jitendra Asati, Convenor of State Level Bankers Committee Shri T.S. Jeera besides state government officials and representatives of banks were present in the meeting.
