Authorities urged to stay vigilant amid continuous rainfall: CM Dr. Yadav

Immediate relief and financial assistance should be provided to the affected people

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has directed district and police administrations to remain cautious and vigilant amidst continuous rain across various districts. He emphasized that all flood control rooms should operate 24/7, and the public should be promptly alerted if necessary to prevent any unfortunate incidents. Dr. Yadav stressed the importance of coordination in addressing the challenges posed by excessive rainfall and potential flooding. He also instructed that extra caution be exercised around bridges and culverts. Additionally, he noted that if any incidents or accidents occur despite precautions, timely financial assistance should be provided to the affected families.

Rainfall situation in the state and government arrangements

As much as 548.9 mm of rainfall has been recorded in the state till August 3. Rainfall has been 14 percent more than average. Monsoon is expected to remain active in the entire state in the next 3 days also. Today it is raining almost in the entire state. Indian Meteorological Department has issued a forecast of heavy rainfall in districts of Bhopal, Vidisha, Sagar, Damoh, Raisen, Guna, Ashoknagar, Narsinghpur, Narmadapuram, Jabalpur, Katni, Seoni and Chhindwara. Heavy rainfall forecast has been issued in districts of Sehore, Shivpuri, Satna, Maihar, Mandla, Balaghat, Panna, Umaria, Shahdol, Anuppur, and Dindori and light rainfall in all the remaining districts.

Status of irrigation dams

Most of the irrigation dams in the state are currently 60-80 percent full. Banasujara is 68.56 percent full, Bargi 88.49 percent, Barna 79.18 percent, Sanjay Sarovar 66.71 percent, Rajghat 75.90 percent, and Tawa 82.45 percent. At present 6 gates of Bansujara (Tikamgarh), 9 gates of Bargi (Jabalpur), 2 gates of Bilgaon Medium Project (Dindori), 2 gates of Kaliyasot Dam (Bhopal), 2 gates of Kolar Dam (Sehore), 6 gates of Matiyari (Mandla), Mohanpura (Rajgarh) 2 gates, 8 gates of Pagra Feeder (Sagar), 6 gates of Powai Medium Project (Panna), 4 gates of Pench Diversion (Chhindwara), 12 gates of Rajghat (Ashoknagar), Sanjay Sagar (Vidisha) 1 gate, Tawa (Narmadapuram) 3 gates, Thanvar (Mandla) 5 gates, Sanjay Sarovar (Seoni) 3 gates have been opened.

Instructions have been given to immediately distribute relief funds in cases of human and animal loss and damage to houses so far this monsoon. An adequate budget has also been made available in the districts for this.

At present there is no damage to crops. Two camps are being run for the flood-affected people in Dhimarkheda tehsil of Katni district, in which a total of 290 people have been accommodated. One camp is operated in Sagar district, in which 25 people have been kept.

District wise status:-

Vidisha – Eight people are trapped due to the sudden rise in water level in Sarkula river at Kedareshwar temple in Tehsil Pohri. Police and revenue team OSDRF team have reached the spot. All 8 people have been rescued and are safe.

Harda: The road is closed due to water on the culverts built on the village Jhugariya Manoharpura, Ajnai-Bamnai, Gangiyakhedi-Ghodakund road under Tehsil Handia. It has been raining all night. The water level of the Narmada river has increased. Due to Hariyali Amavasya, bathing at the ghats in the coastal villages has been prohibited.

Raisen: A search is going on following the information of two persons being flown away in the drain. Search is going on based on information about one person jumping into Narmada river and one child drowning in a drain.

Chhatarpur: A search is going on by SDERF team after information of a body being stuck in the river Dhasan was received.

Khargone:- Rescue work is going on after receiving information about one person getting drowned when he had gone to take bath in the Narmada river.

Balaghat:- Search is going on by SDERF team on the information of dead body of an unknown woman seen floating in Sangadi drain.

Sagar:- It has been raining all night. There is information about water logging in low-lying areas. There has been no loss of life. The rain has slowed down in the day.

Sehore:- Chameti road from village Chhidgaon Kachhi is closed. Barricade has been installed and the Kotwar has been deployed. Search is underway on the information of a woman jumping into the Narmada river.

District Rewa:- On 3 August 2024 afternoon, four children died after a boundary wall collapsed near the private Sunrise School in village Garh of Mangawan tehsil of Rewa district. A child and a woman are undergoing treatment for injuries. 12 people who had gone for picnic were rescued safely by SDERF after receiving information that they were trapped in the waterlogged forest area.

Shahdol:- Due to heavy rainfall on 02 August 2024 at around 7 pm, about 35-year-old pre-built box culvert on Jhapar River in the chainage of the under-construction Beohari New Sapta Marg has been damaged. Due to this, the traffic has been completely disrupted. Barricading has been done on both sides of the bridge. On receiving information that some people were trapped due to rainwater flooding near Durga Mata Temple, SDERF team reached the spot. The situation is normal and everyone is safe. The water has been emptied with the help of a floating pump.

Bhopal:- The boundary wall of NDRF office in Idgah Hills has collapsed. There has been no loss of life.

Umaria:- A search is going on following the information of the drowning of one person.

Chhindwara:- A search is going on following the information of the drowning of one person in Pench river.

Panna:- On receiving information about a truck getting stuck due to water logging, the SDERF team rescued the driver and his assistant safely.

Singrauli:- On receiving information that 25 people being trapped due to water logging, everyone was rescued safely by the SDERF team.

Katni:- At present, the river is flowing far above the bridge in Garra Ghat. Water level has increased in all the rivers and streams. Roads are closed. Due to excessive rainfall in the district, waterlogging has occurred in some places. For security purposes, barricades and employees have been deployed from departments in waterlogged areas. There is no information about any loss of life.
