Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai attends 124th birth anniversary celebrations of Dr. Khubchand Baghel

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai attended the 124th birth anniversary celebrations of Dr. Khubchand Baghel today, held at the Dr. Khubchand Baghel Commercial Complex, Phool Chowk in the capital Raipur. He garlanded the statue of Dr. Khubchand Baghel and paid his respects to him. Cabinet Minister Shri Tank Ram Verma and former Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel were also present on this occasion.

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, reflecting on Dr. Khubchand Baghel’s legacy, described him as the visionary of Chhattisgarh, renowned for his contributions as a distinguished doctor and litterateur. Remembering the late Prime Minister Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee, he acknowledged Shri Vajpayee’s fulfillment of the ancestral dream in the creation of Chhattisgarh, expressing gratitude on behalf of the state. “We are all grateful to Atal ji. Now it is the responsibility of each one of us to work towards the development of our state”, he stated.

Highlighting his government’s achievements in its seven-month tenure, Chief Minister Shri Sai noted, “With your blessings, I have been entrusted with the leadership of the government. On the second day of our government’s formation, we sanctioned houses for 18 lakh poor families. We have procured paddy from farmers at Rs 3100 per quintal and 21 quintals per acre, cleared pending paddy bonuses spanning two years for 13 lakh farmers, and are providing financial assistance of Rs 1000 per month and Rs 12000 annually to over 70 lakh women under the Mahtari Vandan Yojana. Besides, we increased the tendupatta collection rate from Rs 4000 to Rs 5500 per standard bag. Similarly, several other important decisions have been made.”

He affirmed, “We are committed to realizing the vision our ancestors had for Chhattisgarh. Endowed with abundant mineral wealth including coal, iron, bauxite, gold, and diamonds, our state’s mineral resources are a significant asset. The diverse forest produce enhances the state’s natural beauty, and through its value addition, we aim to economically empower our forest dwellers.”

Revenue Minister Shri Tank Ram Verma encouraged attendees to actively contribute to societal and state development. He praised Dr. Khubchand Baghel’s lifelong efforts to eradicate social discrimination and uplift the underprivileged, promoting social harmony.

Executive President of Chhattisgarh Manwa Kurmi Kshatriya Samaj, Shri KK Nayak, provided insights into Dr. Khubchand Baghel’s early life, his role in the freedom struggle, and his contributions to social upliftment.

Shri Raghunandan Verma and Shri Dashrath Verma along office bearers of Chhattisgarh Manwa Kurmi Kshatriya Samaj and public representatives were also present.
