Anil Sharma calls his next ‘Vanvaas’ is ‘emotions ka Gadar’

Mumbai, Aug 16 (IANS) Filmmaker Anil Sharma has said that his next “Vanvaas”, which was earlier titled “Journey”, starring Nana Patekar and Utkarsh Sharma, is “emotions ka ‘Gadar’.”

Talking to IANS about the upcoming film, Sharma said: “Jo ‘Vanvaas’ hai woh emotions ka Gadar hai. It is a blast of emotions. It is a story in which we have tried to show that a father is above all. It is a film that will get into everyone, and every father will watch the film and then tell their sons to go watch it.”

He said that he started his journey in cinema with films such as “Shradhanjali” and then went on to make films such as “Bandhan Kuchchey Dhaagon Ka” and “Apne,” which was like an “emotional journey” of his life.

“So, similarly, it (‘Vanvaas’) is also an emotional journey, where I say, ‘apne hi dete hai apno ko vanvaas’. I am trying to tell the biggest truth in the world because it is very relevant in today’s time,” Sharma said.

The filmmaker, whose film “Gadar 2” has clocked a year in Hindi cinema, recalled a moment when he got a call from veteran star Nana Patekar, who was surprised to see that Sharma was not making an action film.

“Nana Patekar had called after ‘Gadar’ when I was about to start shooting for the film and said, ‘Anil, I thought you would be shooting for a big action film because ‘Gadar’ has become such a big hit’ and I said, ‘Nana sir, I am making an emotional ‘Gadar’.. This is a ‘Gadar’ in itself.”

He added: “I am making a film that is close to my heart. I don’t go according to a trend. I will make a film on what I feel like.”
