National Space Day to be celebrated in universities, colleges, and schools : CM Dr. Yadav

Lectures, seminars and other programmes focused on space science will be held on 21st and 22nd August

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav announced that on August 21st and 22nd, all universities, colleges, and schools in the state will host events to celebrate National Space Day. This observance has been designated by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to mark India’s historic lunar landing on August 23. The celebrations will include lectures, seminars, exhibitions, science quizzes, model-making, painting, expert talks, and film screenings centered on space science.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that a hackathon focused on space science will be organized by the Madhya Pradesh Council of Science and Technology, Bhopal, and IIT Indore for university and college students on the occasion of National Space Day. While the winners of the Hackathon will be rewarded, they will also be supported in furthering their innovation. Registration for participation in the Hackathon will start on August 18 on the website of IIT Indore and Madhya Pradesh Council of Science and Technology. He said that a scientist-student interaction program on the subject of space will be organized in any one university or college selected by the Higher Education Department in each division.

Last year, with the success of Chandrayaan-3, the landing of the Vikram lander on the lunar surface on 23 August 2023, and the deployment of the Pragyan rover, India became the fourth country to land on the Moon. With this, our country has joined the elite group of space pioneer nations by becoming the first country to land near the south pole of the Moon. The outcome of this historic mission will benefit mankind for years to come.
