Shatrughan Sinha says daughter Sonakshi’s marriage not ‘illegal and unconstitutional’

New Delhi, Aug 12 (IANS) Politician and veteran actor Shatrughan Sinha has spoken about his actress-daughter Sonakshi Sinha’s wedding with Zaheer Iqbal and said it is not “illegal and unconstitutional”.

Shatrughan told IANS said: “This is a matter of marriage… Secondly, if the kids got married, it is not illegal and unconstitutional. They did it with their own wishes and our blessings. So I appreciate it.

“Who will stand with my daughter if I don’t… My wife Poonam Sinha and I, got together to celebrate her wedding. This is about their happiness.”

Tagging them as “made for each other”, Shatrughan said: “Parents will always stand for their children’s happiness and I feel that our children are happy. I call them made for each other and we are very happy for them.”

It was on June 23, when Sonakshi married her longtime beau Zaheer in a civil ceremony. It was followed up with a glitzy party for their friends and close ones at Shilpa Shetty’s luxurious restaurant, Bastian.

Last month, Shatrughan had called Sonakshi and Zaheer a “made for each other” couple. The actress too had shared an emotional moment from her wedding day when her mother started crying.

The pictures captured heartwarming moments with Sonakshi, her mother, and her father, Shatrughan Sinha.

Professionally, Sonakshi’s latest release is “Kakuda”, a horror comedy set in a curse-inflicted village in the Mathura district of Uttar Pradesh. It also stars Riteish Deshmukh and Saqib Saleem.

“Kakuda” tells a tale of a bizarre ritual that requires the opening of a dummy door of each house every Tuesday at 7:15 p.m. If someone failed to follow, they would invite the wrath of Kakuda, who punishes the man of the house.

She will next be seen in “Nikita Roy and the Book of Darkness”.
