Handloom Industry an integral part of our Cultural Heritage”: Chief Minister Dr. Yadav

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav congratulated the people of the state the citizens associated with the handloom industry, on National Handloom Day on Wednesday, 7 August.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav stated that special attention is being given to promoting the handloom industry in the state and improving the economic conditions of the weavers. He emphasized that the primary purpose of celebrating Handloom Day is to honor the weaver community, encourage their contributions to socio-economic development, and promote small and medium industries. Dr. Yadav mentioned that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi announced National Handloom Day on August 7, 2015. Thanks to Prime Minister Shri Modi’s efforts, handloom has become an integral part of the cultural heritage and identity of our country.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav highlighted that in addition to handloom clothing, decorative items are also crafted. He urged the public to support domestic products by purchasing handloom items. Dr. Yadav noted that the handloom industry is providing employment opportunities for youth and helping women achieve financial independence.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that despite the increasing use of modern technology and machines, the clothes and products of Madhya Pradesh are continuously getting patronage and popularity. The attraction, intricacies and authenticity of handloom clothes are being appreciated in the country and abroad. Chanderi and Maheshwari Saris of Madhya Pradesh still maintain their popularity in the country and abroad.
