Calls for enhanced support for tribal development in Chhattisgarh

Urges to release pending Rs 74.69 crore under Pradhan Mantri Adi Adarsh Gram Yojana

Chhattisgarh Tribal and Scheduled Caste and Minority Development Minister, Shri Ramvichar Netam met with Union Tribal Affairs Minister Shri Jual Oram during his visit to Delhi today. The discussion focused on the development of weaker and backward classes, including Scheduled Castes and Tribes, in Chhattisgarh.

During the meeting, Minister Shri Netam requested the release of the remaining Rs 74 crore 69 lakh 27 thousand for the fiscal year 2022-23 under the ‘Pradhan Mantri Adi Adarsh Gram Yojana’. For the financial year 2022-23, a total provision of Rs 1,653 crore 71 lakh 20 thousand was allocated to this scheme.

Shri Netam also sought Union Minister Shri Oram’s to approve proposals of Rs 162 crore under the Special Central Assistance to the Tribal Sub Plan and Rs 55 crore 14 lakh 35 thousand for enhancing quality education in Eklavya Adarsh Residential Schools in Chhattisgarh, by including them in the year 2024-25.

Minister Shri Netam provided updates on the ‘Niyad Nellnar Yojana,’ a state government initiative spearheaded by Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, especially focusing on development efforts in five Maoist-affected districts within the Bastar division. He also discussed the progress of the Pradhan Mantri JANMAN Yojana, aimed at integrating the special backward tribal communities of Chhattisgarh into the societal mainstream, and other relevant schemes run by both the Central and State Governments.
