Acting on Chief Minister’s Instructions : Bilaspur district collector visits malaria-affected villages

Sets up ‘Malaria Chaupal’ to assess situation firsthand

Instructs doctors and health workers to remain at headquarters

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai emphasized the importance of maintaining vigilance over public health during the rainy season, urging officials to actively monitor vulnerable villages and take prompt actions.

In response, Bilaspur district collector Shri Awanish Sharan undertook visits to several villages, including malaria-affected Kurdar, Chuiha, and Tenganmada in the Kota development block. Despite challenging road conditions due to mud and swamp caused by rain, he inspected the area on a motorcycle and promptly directed repairs for the access roads to the villages. He held a ‘Malaria Chaupal’ in Kurdar, gathering local residents and health department personnel to assess the malaria situation firsthand.

The collector engaged with villagers and health officials to gather insights into the prevailing conditions, consulting extensively with Kurdar’s Sarpanch Shri Rajkumar Paikra. He instructed health staff to conduct nightly ‘Janchaupals’ to raise awareness about disease prevention among residents. Besides, he ensured a motorcycle ambulance remained stationed in Kurdar around the clock and mandated that all doctors and health workers be on standby at their respective headquarters.

Inspecting the Tenganmada Primary Health Center, Shri Sharan directed that confirmed malaria cases be referred directly to district hospitals or CIMS for immediate admission, rather than treating them locally. He stressed the importance of educating schoolchildren on preventive measures against diseases like diarrhea and malaria immediately following school prayers.

The collector mandated the assignment of dedicated employee to monitor disease progression by maintaining contact with patients via phone. He also gave necessary instructions to the officials to provide a 108 ambulance service to Kainda Hospital and address issues concerning water and electricity supply in Kurdar.
