Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai emphasized that prevention of road accidents is among the top priorities of the state government. To attain this goal, state government has deployed high-tech traffic system. After flagging-off 15 new interceptor vehicles from his residence today, Shri Vishnu Deo Sai highlighted in his address that compliance to the traffic rules guarantees safe travel and fosters a sense of security among other people on the roads. In view of the increasing number of road accidents, it is imperative to be more vigilant and serious about following traffic regulations. By adhering to these rules, we respect not only our rights but also those of our fellow commuters. On this occasion, Chief Minister Shri Sai urged the residents of the state to comply with traffic rules.
Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijay Sharma, Forest Minister Shri Kedar Kashyap, Member of Parliament Shri Santosh Pandey, MLA Shri Anuj Sharma, Director General of Police Shri Ashok Juneja, and senior police officials were also present at the event. During the ceremony, the Chief Minister reviewed the utility and technical features of the vehicles.
Chief Minister remarked that road safety is a collective responsibility. Every year, thousands of people lose their lives in road accidents, and many suffer permanent disabilities. The solution to this issue lies in the cooperation of all societal segments. Adherence to these rules ensures smooth commute, by preventing chaos and ensuring a pleasant and safe journey to the destination.
Chief Minister Shri Sai said that the new interceptor vehicles would monitor rule violators. The objective is not to collect fines but to raise awareness and alert people about the importance of following traffic rules. It is noteworthy that the well-equipped interceptor vehicles in Chhattisgarh will play a vital role in effectively controlling the road accidents. These vehicles are necessary for addressing overspeeding, drunk driving, excessive headlight glare, loud vehicle sound systems, and violations related to dark window tints. The newly-inaugurated 15 new interceptor vehicles are equipped with loudspeakers and 360-degree surveillance cameras, enabling better monitoring of law and order and smooth traffic management in road accident cases.
The procurement of these vehicles was made from the Road Safety Fund following administrative approval based on the recommendations of the State-Level Road Safety Fund Management Committee.
Currently, the new interceptor vehicles are being deployed in the districts of Raipur, Balodabazar, Mahasamund, Dhamtari, Durg, Bemetara, Rajnandgaon, Kabirdham, Bilaspur, Korba, Janjgir, Raigarh, Surguja, Jagdalpur, and Kanker. Employees have been trained for the operation of these vehicles in these 15 districts.
