Raipur 06 July 2024

Cooperative Minister Shri Kedar Kashyap stated “The prosperity of villages, states, and the country, including farmers, is closely linked to the empowerment of cooperative societies. The basic objective of cooperative society is the development of all with everyone’s participation. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of “Sahkaar se Samriddhi” aims to economically empower villages, the poor, and farmers across the nation. Our government, led by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, is committed to ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas and Sabka Vishwas’, working tirelessly in the interest of the people.”

He was addressing a programme organized at Indira Gandhi Agricultural University Raipur on the occasion of International Cooperative Day.

Regarding the operational impact, Minister Shri Kashyap stressed, “Our work should be visible at the ground level. We will achieve economic prosperity only through everyone’s participation and cooperation.”

He added that we also know Mother Earth as ‘Vasundhara’. We worship Mother Earth, and wherever we plough and sow seeds, our Motherland yields many times more grains for livelihood. He also underlined the multi-faceted role of cooperative societies stating that they not only serve as a center for purchasing and selling paddy and seeds but also strives to develop itself into a multifaceted common service center.

Highlighting the government’s commitment to farmers, Minister Shri Kashyap noted, “Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai’s government pledged to purchase every grain of paddy from state farmers. Fulfilling this promise, we procured 145 lakh metric tonnes of paddy from over 25 lakh farmers at Rs 3100 per quintal.”

He stated that the progress of farmers is our priority. To meet their basic needs, interest-free loans are being provided through the Kisan Credit Card. So far, loans worth Rs 5.5 thousand crore have been disbursed, with a target of distributing loans worth Rs 7,300 crore in this Kharif season.

Revenue Minister Shri Tank Ram Verma stated “Cooperative societies have significantly benefited common people, promoting mutual coordination and opening new avenues of development. They have become an essential financial support system for farmers.”

MLA Shri Anuj Sharma, Vice Chancellor of Indira Gandhi Agricultural University Dr. Girish Chandel, and officials of Sahkaar Bharti also addressed the programme. The event, commemorating International Cooperative Day, was held at the Krishi Mandapam Sabha Hall of Agricultural University, Jora in Raipur, organized by Sahkaar Bharti Organization. A large number of farmers, society officials, employees, and Drone Didi were present on the occasion. Technical training sessions were also organized for farmers.
