Ex-gratia amount of Rs 15 lakh sanctioned on the demise of Polling Officer No. 1

Chief Electoral Officer Shri Rajan expresses grief over the death of Polling Officer No. 1 in Mandla

Chief Electoral Officer Shri Anupam Rajan has expressed deep condolence on the untimely death of Polling Officer No. 1 Shri Maniram Kanvre (Assistant Teacher) during the departure of polling parties at District Headquarters Mandla. He has prayed to God to grant peace to the departed soul and strength to his family to bear this loss.

Shri Rajan has told that as per the ex-gratia assistance provisions of the Election Commission of India, an ex-gratia assistance amount of Rs 15 lakh has been sanctioned to Smt. Shyama Bai Kanvre, the wife of deceased Shri Kanvre. Besides, the Assistant Commissioner, Tribal Affairs Department, Mandla has been instructed to quickly prepare the case for giving compassionate appointment to the dependent eligible member of the deceased’s family.

It is noteworthy that when Shri Kanvre suddenly fell ill while collecting voting material, he was admitted to the District Hospital, Mandla. He passed away tragically in the hospital at 8:10 am on Thursday. Voting in the first phase in Lok Sabha parliamentary constituency Mandla is on April 19.
