Various goods worth over Rs 117 crore seized in one month under Model Code of Conduct

Seizure of Rs 85.12 crore was made in Lok Sabha elections 2019

Chief Electoral Officer Shri Anupam Rajan has said that after the Model Code of Conduct for Lok Sabha Elections-2024 came into effect, continuous action is being taken by the police and other enforcement agencies. He said that from March 16 to April 15, various materials worth Rs 117 crore 97 lakh 15 thousand 39 including cash amount of Rs 18 crore 30 lakh 13 thousand 224 have been seized. It is noteworthy that during the Code of Conduct in Lok Sabha Elections-2019, various materials worth Rs 85 crore 12 lakh were seized. In just one month during the model Code of Conduct period of Lok Sabha Elections-2024, over Rs 32 crore more of various materials have been seized as compared to the last Lok Sabha elections.

Among the material seized till April 15, 2024, 18 lakh 63 thousand 145 liters of liquor has also been seized value at Rs 28 crore 38 lakh 11 thousand 595. Similarly, more than 15 thousand 467 kg of drugs worth Rs 20 crore 62 lakh 24 thousand 820 and more than 468 kg of precious metals worth Rs 9 crore 95 lakh 56 thousand 602 have also been seized. Besides, other materials worth Rs 40 crore 71 lakh 8 thousand 798 have also been seized.
