Bengaluru, Nov 27 (IANS) Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy’s son Nikhil Kumaraswamy said on Wednesday that he will not retreat in fear of deceitful politics following his defeats in the recently held bypolls.
“To my dear party workers, I say this: Victory and defeat are part of any battle. I will not retreat in fear of deceitful politics. We have nothing to prove with empty challenges, but let us show our strength, leadership, and resolve in the next election. Let’s rebuild our party and fight for the people with renewed vigour,” Nikhil wrote in a letter to JD-S workers.
“We have no reason to despair. I stand with you, and so does the entire party. The unexpected defeat in the Channapatna Assembly by-election, where I contested as an NDA candidate, is indeed disheartening. I have already stated the reasons for the defeat. However, neither I, nor our party has the temperament to sit quietly, fearing a setback.
“Our party has endured numerous defeats in the past, only to rise again like a phoenix through relentless struggles. In this long journey of ups and downs, I am a small traveller. The party, under the leadership of towering figures like the revered H.D. Deve Gowda, has given Karnataka several capable leaders,” Nikhil said.
“This defeat has caused me pain, undeniably. I won’t deceive myself by claiming otherwise. However, I did not enter this election expecting to lose. We fought with sincerity and determination to win. Although certain factors led to setbacks, I have the courage to rise again.
“Just as I have imbibed the strength to endure pain, I have also inherited the spirit to rise with determination. I am not someone to seek sympathy. My past two defeats have given me the inner strength to overcome helplessness and face humiliation with courage. With the same determination and self-belief, I joined JD (S)-BJP leaders and workers in waging a bold battle in Channapatna,” he said.
“I understand the deep disappointment my defeat has caused to my party workers. I know the immense effort you all put in, working day and night in Channapatna like true warriors. You have visited every household, striving for my victory. Ultimately, the decision was made by the people, and I have humbly accepted it,” he stated.
Nikhil Kumaraswamy, the NDA candidate was defeated by Congress candidate, senior leader C.P. Yogeshwara by a big margin of 25,413 votes.
