Ambitious plan afoot to improve the quality of school education and further strengthen the education system
To improve the quality of school education in the state and further strengthen the education system, PM Shri Yojana has been started in September 2022. For qualitative improvement in education, joint efforts are being made with the cooperation of Center and State under PM Shri Yojana. At present 553 schools in the state have been taken under PM Shri Yojana.
Under the PM Shri Yojana, two higher secondary, high school, or secondary and primary schools are being selected from each development block of the state and these schools are being developed in a way that the school can serve as an example of excellence for other nearby schools. Arrangements are being made to equip the PM Shri schools with Vatikas, Rashtriya Awishkar Abhiyan, vocational education, play facilities, libraries, and labs.
In the first phase of the scheme, 416 schools were selected which includes 14 primary schools, 91 secondary schools, 116 high schools, and 195 higher secondary schools of the state. About 2 lakh 50 thousand students are enrolled in these schools, and an amount of about Rs 220 crore has been sanctioned for these schools. 137 schools have been selected in the second phase of the Central Government. This includes 13 middle schools, 52 high schools, and 72 higher secondary schools. 91 thousand 981 students are registered in these PM Shri schools.
PM Shri schools are being developed on the lines of green schools, and students have been provided with facilities of a digital library, ICT lab, and smart classes. The mission of PM Shri Schools is to create exemplary schools where every student feels secure and cared for. A safe and stimulating learning environment is maintained in these schools, with good physical infrastructure and appropriate learning resources being provided to all students in these schools.
